FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT PERFORMANCE OF MST-BAR® & MFX-BAR®

Q: How does MST-BAR® & MFX-BAR® strength compare to steel?

A:  Both MST-BAR® & MFX-BAR® have a tensile strength of greater than 1000 MPa(145 ksi), in compare to steel, GFRP     rebar can take twice the tensile load before failure. 

 

Q: How does MST-BAR® & MFX-BAR® modulus of elasticity compare to steel?

A:  Both MST-BAR® & MFX-BAR® have tensile modulus of greater than 65 GPa(9427 ksi), in compare to steel, GFRP         rebar is more flexible. 

 

Q: How does MST-BAR® & MFX-BAR® strain compare to steel?

A:  Both MST-BAR® & MFX-BAR® have tensile strain between 1.5% to 2.5%, in compare to steel, GFRP rebar strain is       lower than steel.

 

Q: What is the resistance  of MST-BAR® & MFX-BAR® to Alkali Environment?

A:  Both MST-BAR® & MFX-BAR® have tested according to CSA & ACI standard for durability criteria, they both retain       +90% of ultimate tensile capacity after 2160 hours of direct exposure to an alkali solution with a pH level of 13 at 60         degrees Celsius, in compare to steel, GFRP rebar is much more resistant to even Stainless Steel.

 

Q: What is the maximum operating temperature of MST-BAR® & MFX-BAR®?

A:  The operational temperature of GFRP, FRP and any other Composite products such as CFRP,GFRP,BFRP & AFRP is dependent to the glass transition temperature or service temperature of the matrix or polymer and have nothing to do with fiber type since glass, basalt and carbon Fiber are having a very high melting & operating temperature. MST-BAR® & MFX-BAR® both provides high operating temperatures. MST-BAR® glass transition temperature is degrees Celsius & MFX-BAR® service temperature is 110 degrees Celsius.

 

Q: What is the minimum operating temperature of MST-BAR® & MFX-BAR®?

A:  Both MST-BAR® & MFX-BAR® have tested according to CSA & ACI standard at -40 degrees Celsius, and the effect     was zero and in some case increase in performance.
